German cookie and snack manufacturer Griesson – de Beukelaer is investing over $70 million to locate its first US operations in Madison County.
The new Madison County plant will focus on manufacturing cookies and baked snack products to support the brand’s North American market expansion.
The family-owned company, headquartered in Polch, Germany, selected Mississippi as its strategic hub to expand its production and market reach into the United States.
The project will create 30 specialized manufacturing and operational jobs in the central Mississippi region, according to the Mississippi Development Authority.
While specific manufacturing lines for the new facility have not been individually itemized, Griesson – de Beukelaer is globally recognized for producing several core signature items:
- Pirouline Rolled Wafers: The DeBeukelaer family already operates an established 100,000-square-foot bakery in Madison, Mississippi, dedicated to producing these famous chocolate-lined rolled wafer cookies.
- Griesson Soft Cakes: A flagship product line featuring soft egg-biscuit bases topped with fruit filling (like orange or strawberry) and covered in dark chocolate.
- Prinzen Rolle: Germany’s best-known sandwich cookie, consisting of two cocoa-flavored biscuits with a smooth chocolate cream filling.
- Cookies and Assortments: Broad varieties of chocolate chip mountain cookies, fair-trade baked goods, and savory twist snacks.
The Pirouline rolled wafer plant employs over 200 people. The 115,000-square-foot bakery produces millions of crème-filled wafers each day.
